HIIII :’) we are a small DJ business in central Iowa, freshly married who love disc golf, sesame chicken from Peony Chinese, working out at the gym (to burn off Peony), watching The Bachelor, while also having a good ear for mixing music and planning fun and entertaining events.

When we first touched eyes at a middle school dance, he wasn't gazing at Emily but rather at flashing lights and the energy that built up when a new song started. (The real connection began off the dance floor while playing dance dance revolution at the Webb House, iykyk ;-))

THE BACKSTORY

you know, shockingly, we didn’t wake up wanting to start a DJ business. Dan’s uncle was a DJ in the 80s-early 2000s, with the business name “Kirk’s Dancin’ Music.” After he passed away, his family was wondering what to do with all of his DJ equipment. It wasn’t until April of 2022, Dan’s aunt asked if we would want to drive to Michigan to see (and potentially) take the equipment.

MAY 2022: after 2 Mississippi seconds to think it over, we rented a U-Haul to Michigan. The equipment was pretty extensive and overwhelming… we didn’t even test it out (?!) before driving back to Iowa. so, fingers crossed. 🤞🏼 Back in Iowa after filling up the entire garage, it works! During this time, we came up with the name The Shuffle Couple. :’) Fast forward to March 2023, we DJed our very first wedding. Since then, we’ve completed over 100 events in just three years.

emily rohner

hiiiii :’) Em is a Sagittarius babe and an enneagram 9 all the way. In her free time, you can find her looking up the weather radar, watching horse hoof cleaning videos, playing Catan, taking photos of her dogs, smelling candles, and listening to T-Pain and Fetty Wap. She grew up wanting to be a meteorologist but that quickly changed when she realized she doesn’t like tornados :’)

She loves connecting with people, and using trendy and fun marketing strategies. She's big on using social media and other strategies to make their business known in a fun way. For a full-time job, she does marketing for Jefferson Matters while working on Shuffle Couple at night and weekends. :’) It’s a creative outlet outside of her corporate full-time. it’s truly the beauty of using her passions in a creative sense.

If you don’t already personally know Dan…. he is a Taurus baby, enneagram 6 (?!), loves rewatching sitcoms like Curb your Enthusiasm and Seinfeld, adding Frank’s hot sauce to everything, ordering his typical plain quesadilla with steak, beans, and cheese at Casa de Oro, making his famous 3 ingredient green bean casserole, giving himself a haircut, and waving and honking at everyone while driving.

By day, he's grinding at a local cable company, but by night, he's putting on his DJ headphones.

Dan's music journey started at twelve, playing guitar and rocking high school bands, where he met Emily!! His taste evolved over the years, expressing creativity through performances, productions, and YouTube originals. College introduced him to improv comedy, showcasing his spunky personality and creativity in blending songs. Dan's unique approach keeps audiences hooked, creating an exciting atmosphere that captivates the room. His dynamic performances show mastery in both comedy and music, making him the performer audiences love!

daisy jane

Daisy is our new BFF as of 12/28/24! We love our DJ business so much, that we knew we had to weave it into her name (DJ). She gives us so much joy and love that we didn’t know was possible. When we aren’t DJing weddings or events or working our full-time jobs, we are out on family walks, cuddling with Daisy, flipping through high-contrast books with her, or smiling 2 inches from her face to make her smile. :-)
